Dear Exwire and
Foothill.net e-mail user,
Hackers
are sending you e-mails, not us!
Over the last several
months you may have received one or
more e-mails that look like they are from us asking you to “verify
account information” or “confirm xyx information”.
However, they have been sent by hackers and by spammers – not by us!
The e-mail asks you either to click on a link or provide your username
and
password. Unless you are sure the e-mail is from us DO NOT click on
links
in e-mails and under no circumstances should you type in your username
and
password unless you are sure that you are on the right website.
Don’t
click on links in e-mails!
The most secure way to
reach our or any website is to click on
your own browser bookmark or simply type in the name of the URL you
wish to go
to. Clicking links in e-mails can take you to websites that you do not
wish to visit even though the name of the link looks like what you
want.
If you do click on these links, hackers can load malicious software on
your
computer, take control of your e-mail account and use it for malicious
purposes
or get to your personal information that may be contained in e-mails.
How to
verify that an e-mail really came
from us.
Real correspondence from
us like this e-mail, can be
verified by going to our website www.exwire.com
(to be safe, don’t click on this link but type the domain name into
your
browser’s URL bar by hand). Once there click on the “support”
tab in the left margin and then click on the “correspondence” link.
You will find a copy of this e-mail there indicating to you it is a
real e-mail
from us (because spammers can’t post things on our website).
One way to reduce these
spam e-mails is with good anti-spam
software. We offer Spam Guardian Pro which is very effective and
reducing
spam by 96-99%! See our website for more information: https://sg.foothill.net/subscribe.php
(now that you have verified that this e-mail is legitimate, you can
click the
link!).
Thanks,
The Exwire Customer
